Global Strategy PhD Prize 2019 Awarded to Antonio Calcara

Egmont and the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) have the pleasure of announcing that the 2019 edition of their annual Global Strategy PhD Prize has been awarded to Dr Antonio Calcara for his desseration on: The Decision-Making Dilemma of Arms Procurement Policy.

Dr Calcara defended his dissertation at the LUISS “Guido Carli” School of Government in Rome, where he now is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Political Science. He also currently is an Adjunct Professor at the Vesalius College of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a Visiting Lecturer at SciencesPo in Paris.

The jury, chaired by Professor Sven Biscop, especially appreciated the policy relevance of this excellently written PhD, which is at the same time grounded in theory.

3rd call for PhD researchers for the European Doctoral School on CSDP

The European Doctoral School on the CSDP is launching its 3rd call for researchers’ applications. PhD candidates interested in accessing a wide range of academic, scientific and practical expertise and specialised training opportunities on the CSDP are invited to apply by submitting to the ESDC’s Secretariat an application form and the documents referred in the respective checklist.

The applications can be submitted until 24 January 2020.
